Friday Photo Freebies on a Saturday!!!

Here are some more photos for your non-fiction/realistic fiction writing.
I have been using them as story-starters for our new Writing Unit.
I put them up on the SmartBoard and we discuss (whole-class, turn and talk to elbow partners, and if needed individual conferences) what we could write from these pictures.

By the end of next week, I should be able to share some of our writing.
Have a fabulous Friday Saturday!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you are having a wonderful day!

We are traveling to a friend's house today and then to my parents tomorrow. I am so lucky to be able to spend it with so many people I love.

Yesterday I painted my bathroom...Yep! What was I thinking? My daughter and I finished it in one day! Whew! At least I will get to relax for the rest of my break.

Are you going shopping tonight or tomorrow? I don't know about you but I can't even think about shopping on Thanksgiving Day.
That being said, yesterday, my oldest daughter asked me if we could go shopping on Black Friday.
I guess we will be shopping...just not on Thanksgiving.

I am joining a TON of amazing teachers for a Cyber Monday sale.
Click on the link to head on over to my TpT store. Everything will be on sale.

I just finished my new Race to the Top activity.
Students can practice their sight words with this fun Polar Express themed pack.

Enjoy your day!!!

Blue Ribbon Assembly and Thanksgiving Play

We have our Blue Ribbon Assembly this morning.
Our school is a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Our principal and superintendent went down to Washington D.C. to accept the award last week. We watched the whole award ceremony. The students didn't get to see them accept the award because it took so long to get to New York. It was after 3:00 before they were called up.
The teachers sat around our SmartBoards and waited. Our principal did not disappoint us. She danced up to get the award with a smile so big. We are so proud!!!

This morning we are presenting the award to the school, well really the entire community. We are having an assembly and then an open-house. Anyone in the community can come into our classrooms. I am a little nervous. :)

Our class, along with a second grade class, is going to sign the pledge to start off the whole ceremony. We have been practicing every day for a month. I think they are ready. :)

In the afternoon we are presenting our First Grade Thanksgiving Alphabet play.
These firsties have been working on this for a while. It is so cute!

I can't wait to post our Turkey's in Disguise.
So creative!

Have a great day!

Alphabet Exchange

I am linking up with Chrissy at First Grade Found Me!

It was so much fun! Chrissy matched us all up in groups of 26. Every classroom made one letter. We had V. It was very hard to think of something that would be appropriate all over the country and Canada.
We chose Vegetables. We used watercolors to fill in the actual letter and then we had a "Vegetable Stamping Party" to make the background. We stamped carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, lettuce (this turned out to be so cool!), peppers, celery, I am sure I forgot some. We had so much fun!

Once the letters started to come in we would read each of the letters and talk about where the letters were from.
Then we put them up on our bulletin board and marked our map.

I can't wait to do it next year!!!
Thank you Chrissy for setting everything up!

October in Review

I am linking up with the AMAZING...Miss Nelson.

I LOVE this linky party!!!

Here is our October in Pictures...

We did Daily 5...Listen to Reading.

We harvested from our classroom garden.
It wasn't much but it was SOMETHING!!!

We Read the Room.

We added a little ZING to our classroom.

We worked on the SmartBoard.

We "looked closely" at our writing.

We dressed up.

We estimated and counted seeds.

We were grateful to our Ag Buddies that we could even get this much from our garden!
Yes, that is a zucchini and a cell phone. :)

We worked hard at counting.

We scooped out guts!

We were Pirates! Arrrrrrhhhh!

We helped student teachers.

We had fun!

We learned more about our FIVE SENSES.

We got messy.

We watched a parade.

We worked with our second grade friends.

We love October!
