Halloween Week

We made it!

We did so much this week. We learned about pumpkins.

We used Pumpkin Life Cycles - Science and Experiment Unit from Teaching with Style.

It was so much fun! You should think about this unit for next year or you could definitely take it into November when pumpkins will be on sale. :)

My daughter's field hockey team won their Sectional game and are moving to the cross-over game to get to Regionals.
A little bragging....she scored FOUR goals!!! Woo Hoo!!! Proud Mama!!!

My colleague, Linda, and I dressed up together again. I was a snowy owl and she was my tree. :)

This is one of our monitors.
Hilarious!

Thanks to Ladybug's Teacher Files for these adorable signs to put on the kiddos glow sticks.

We got to watch a little of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

The seniors came over for a parade. I love this tradition!!!

Let's hope for a wonderful start to November!

Class Dojo

Who uses Class Dojo?
I LOVE Love LOVE it!

It is an amazing classroom management system.
My firsties love it!
So do my PARENTS!!!

They can see how their child is doing throughout the day and have some good conversations at night.
I have linked our classroom behaviors to our Character Education traits.
Respect
Responsibility
Caring
Honesty
Pride

There are so many new things that help me keep connections with parents and let them see what's going on in our little world of the classroom.

I send little snippets of their day along with a small description.
Parents have told me how they love these little glimpses into their children's day.

There are some great resources for you and the parents to introduce and give them a little more information about Class Dojo.
If you haven't checked it out yet, you should. It's like magic!!!

Fire Prevention Week

In honor of Fire Prevention Week we had the local fire department come in and talk to each class about Fire Prevention.

"Hear the Beep where you Sleep"
"Once you're out...Stay OUT!"
Make sure you have a meeting spot.
Stay low by the window.

These are some of the things that our firefighters were stressing to our first graders.

I went up in the bucket...

And up...

Wow!!!

I found these adorable units on TpT to use with my firsties.
Click on the pictures to go to TpT.

This unit has some activities to use all week long.

This one creates an adorable book.

Need some close reading activities and centers for around the classroom?

Trick or Treating Safety Tips

It is hard to believe that we are listening to "What are you going to be for Halloween?" already!
I am going to send this home with the kiddos in paper form and in an email.

Elm Chevrolet in Elmira made this infographic up for the kiddos.
So cute!

I made a PDF for you to print out. It's in my TpT store for free. :)
